Support Ministries and Auxilliaries

 

Board of Christian Education

This ministry is responsible for developing and promoting programs of Christian nurture and to organize and administer educational ministry and activities of the church, including (but not limited to) the Sunday School and CYF.

Bowling League

This ministry is responsible for a recreational fellowship of the members.    It is coordinated by the Young Adults of the church.

Brotherhood

This ministry consists of the men of the Church. The men are responsible for assisting the officers in the upkeep and maintenance of the church. In addition, the brotherhood act as hosts to visiting clergy or churches by directing parking and welcoming visitors. They also act as mentors for the young men of the church.

Choir

This ministry is responsible for the music in the Church. Choir members should be in place during devotion at regular worship services.

Christian Youth Fellowship

This ministry is responsible for training young people in Christian living, to enable them to enrich their lives through worship, Bible study, discussions, Christian service, and recreation; to help them solve personal and social problems in light of the life and teachings of Christ; to offer them opportunities for self-expression and exercise in the duties, functions and responsibilities of the church; and to provide opportunities for interaction with other youth in facing social problems.

Class Leaders

This ministry is responsible for meeting with the membership assigned to their specific class in order to inquire as to his or her soul prospers and to advise, reprove, comfort, or exhort as occasion may require.

Contact Ministry

This ministry is responsible for contacting those members who have not attended services recently to inquire as to their well-being and encourage them to return to active church participation.

Dance Team

Children and Youth learn learn and perform interpretive drama in the form of dance.

Drill Team

The children of Kirkwood learn and perform  precision steps while reciting scripture under the direction of the Youth Minister.

Evangelism

The ministry of Evangelism is designed for Church growth. The ministry involves witnessing for Christ in order that the unsaved become saved and the wayward return to the fold.

Food Ministry - Kitchen

This ministry is responsible for acquiring, preparing, and serving meals at the Temple.

Grief and Recovery Ministry

This ministry helps individuals deal with the emotional suffering caused by trouble, remorse, the loss of a loved one, mental anguish and/or deep sorrow.

Home Alone Ministry

This ministry is responsible for contacting the elderly of the membership who are living on their own to assist in ensuring the comfort and safety of the elderly members.

Hospitality - Young Adults - Greetings

This ministry is responsible for ensuring visitors are warmly greeted when they enter the Temple to worship.

Jubilee Aid

This ministry is responsible for providing emergency assistance to needy persons and families. The ministry provides food and clothing assistance. Church members are to donate canned goods to Jubilee Aid on the third Sunday of each month. Church members may also donate financial, food, or other assistance at any time.

Missionary Society

This ministry is responsible for discovering the mission and unity of the Christian Church in Christ Jesus and to make that mission and unity known at home and abroad.

Singles Ministry

This ministry is designed to meet the needs of the singles population in the church.

Social Concern

This ministry is designed to meet the social needs of the Church and community. We have in place the Stork's Nest ministry for small children and unwed mothers who need assistance.

Stewards

This ministry is responsible for receiving and disbursing the finances of the Church. The members of this ministry are nominated by the pastor.

Stewardesses

This ministry is responsible for servicing the tables of the Lord, of the poor, and of the ministry. They also assist the Stewards with finances.

Trustees

This ministry is responsible for acquiring and maintaining church properties. The members of this ministry are nominated by the pastor.

Ushers

This ministry is responsible for admitting persons to worship, and attending to their comfort. The Ushers are to be on post for all Church services, sacraments and ceremonies, except weddings. The Ushers should be on post at the start of devotion during regular worship services.

Wondrous Grace Groups

This ministry is designed to help members become disciples for Christ. It is also to guide inactive members back into active participation in the Church. Wondrous Grace Groups engage in specific prayer request and ministry projects.
