LUGENE GARRETT ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP The church
is now accepting applications for the “Lugene
Garrett Scholarship” to Texas College. The “Lugene Garrett
Scholarship” in
the amount of $2000 is given annually. The only stipulation is
that the recipient be a high school graduating senior, accepted by
Texas College as a first time, full time, freshman. The
scholarship is channeled through Kirkwood Temple CME church where other
Kirkwood members and friends are encouraged to enhance the
scholarship amount by adding to the $2,000 minimum amount. The scholarship is given to encourage high school graduating seniors to attend Texas College. Texas College is a Historically Black liberal arts institution, supported by Christian Methodist Episcopal churches, that provides educational opportunities primarily to African American youth.
